National housing policy and subsequent developments in Kochi
The National Housing Policy formulated by Government of India, had among other things, emphasized in its objectives the following:
1.To motivate and help people, in particular, the houseless and the inadequately housed, to secure for themselves affordable shelters through access to land, building materials, advanced technology and finance
2.To encourage investment in housing in order to achieve a sustained growth of housing stock in the country, and its proper conservation, renovation and up gradation.
3.To create an enabling environment, by eliminating constraints and by developing an efficient and accessible system for the delivery of inputs to maximize housing efforts.
4.To improve the environment of human settlements to raise the quality of life through adequate provision for drinking water, sanitation and other basic services.
The government is now reviewing the National Housing Policy so that it could implement the concept of housing as a basic human right. The private sector is now given more freedom. Thus with respect to the developments in Apartments Kochi is charting a different course. The sincere efforts of the leading builders have helped people with medium incomes to own a roof under their head in the urban areas of the city.
Even then appropriate national housing strategies will have to be evolved and implemented linking shelter and economic development policies, restructuring the housing sector, modifying regulations on building codes, standards and materials, creating incentives to mobilize private sector and financial institutions to invest in low-income housing for the poor, and management of urban lands to enable greater access by the poor for house construction.

I think it was a machine. If not, I PMed this user a while back to ask how he/she/it(if it's a bot) got to NFW, and he/she/it hasn't replied. If it's a actual person he/she only came on once. Or dosen't like replying to the owner of the site. :P
